Hey Thuy DIY: Summer Canvas Decor
Ya'll, I am so ready for summer! We have one more official day of school left and then we will be on summer break until August! To celebrate summer, I am sharing a fun DIY project to spruce up your home decor for the warmer days using mini canvases, pretty scrapbook paper, a flower punch, fabric butterflies, various paints, and a wooden crate that I picked up from my local Tuesday Morning.
To start, I picked coordinating scrapbook papers that felt summerly and matched my decor and then punched out several different flowers.
Before I applied my paper flowers to my mini canvases, I took half of the flowers and folded all the corners to give them more of a 3-D look.
After I attached my flowers, I started on my second mini canvas using plain white fabric butterflies in various sizes and placing them in a various form and using my Martha Stewart paint to paint dab them with a q-tip. A quick tip is that q-tip's are great for painting small items and it makes for easy cleanup too!
After I was finish decorating both of my canvases, then it was time to style them! I used a pre-painted crate that I picked up at Tuesday Morning and put both of my canvases inside. With the addition of my other decor I had around the house, I created the perfect DIY summer decor and it didn't break the bank! Be sure to head over to the Tuesday Morning blog to see my full complete post including the items I purchased!
